My first rejection letter… Er, email.
Well, it looks like Marvel is looking for artists who are not myself. I got an email back from C.B. the other day stating “Thank you for taking the time to submit to ChesterQuest, Zack.”
The thing is, you know right away what that means. If it would have started with a “Congrats!“, then I’d be writing a completely different blog today.
Thank you for taking the time to submit to ChesterQuest, Zack. Marvel
has now selected the artists who they will be giving further
consideration to, and at this time, you are unfortunately not one of
those chosen creators. Thanks again for your time and best of luck in
all your comic endeavors. We hope to see you possibly working on our
books someday in the future!
Take care,
C.B.
Eh, it’s ok. Something cool did come out of this whole “submission” thing. I’m not sure what I can or can’t say a this point, so I’ll fill you guys in when that time comes.
…..
My 21st birthday is right around the corner, this Tuesday. Literaly around a corner. If my 21st was Disney World, you’d be able to see the big signs saying “Welcome!” down the road at this point. It’s funny, because I get one question over and over.
“You gunna get drunk?”
And my answer is always the same.
“Nope.”
See, the way i look at it, I don’t drink now. I may have a drink here and there, socially. But when it comes down to it, I drink very little. I have no problem with drinking, in fact I think drunk people are hill-airious. It’s just not for me. I mean, sure, I’m going to buy a drink or two just because I can. I really just plan on anging out with a few buddies of mine and having fun. Nothing big.
I do like the fact that 21 is such a big deal. It kinda makes me want to tell people.
…..
Megacon. Less then a month away. 23 days to be exact. And I can’t wait. I’ve kind of looked at Megacon as “my convention” since it was the first one I ever attended, thanks to Dan. That guy drove 6 hours to pick me up (I was living in the Florida Keys at the time) and we drove back the same day, just so I could go. That’s also where I met Tim for the first time, and Brian two years later.

Hahaha. Here’s me meeting Tim back in 2005. I was so freakin’ nervous. Now I have no idea why, he’s just a normal dude.
That jerk chump all around great guy in the back is Brian. I had no idea who he was at the time. Now I’m sharing a table with him this year. Him and Scott. I’m looking forward to the time of drawing sketches, laughing at Brian as he insults me and waiting to see if ANYONE will be able to say they knew of us before actually walking up to the table. By “us”, I mean Dan, Jon and myself. Everyone and their grandmother knows who Brian is.
I’m trying to deside weither or not I want to make an art book and try and sell it. I have the chance to do so since book are made all the time at my “normal” job. I’m just not sure if I want to sit and have ten books at Megacon, and then leave the third day with ten books still in hand. I guess it all depends on what’s inside. I’ll just have to do alot of cool pin-ups and stuff. I’ll also prbably have prints to sell.
Not sure of what yet, but I’ll figure it out.
